Our rules, consequences, and most of our discipline policies are student lead. Every
student at the center is a member of student government. A president campaigns and is elected. Representatives
(students) write bills as they are needed. The bills contain information regarding the consequences imposed for
offenders. The bill is presented to all students, discussed, edited and voted on. Once passed, it is signed by
the president (teacher) and entered into the law book. When a student violates a law the law book is used to retrieve
the law and impose the agreed upon consequence.
Major discipline problems are fortunately infrequent, as we
seek to have a child centered respectful atmosphere where everyone is valued for their individual gifts and talents. If
the need arises, behavior contracts and parent meetings are set up by the staff.
